How to Claim and Migrate CoinGecko NFT Rewards!

Hey Geckos! 

We hope you’re having fun collecting Candies and redeeming them for awesome rewards. Our most recent collection of NFTs were claimed in the blink of an eye! However, the process to claim and migrate them can be a little tricky so here’s a quick tutorial for you. We will be outlining the steps for you to claim your NFTs as well as the process of migrating them. 

To migrate the NFTs, there are actually two methods to do so:

1.  The first is to claim first and migrate later which is ideal for situations where gas prices might be too high and you want to wait it out.

2. Another option is to claim and migrate it all at once. 

Read on!

Method 1: 

Part 1: Claiming your NFTs

1. After redeeming your Candies, the NFT will pop up in the ‘My Rewards’ section. We will be using the ‘CoinGecko Halloween 2020 - Joker Gecko’ in this example. Here you will see a code that will lead you to the POAP claim page. Simply copy and paste the web address link into your browser.

2. You will then be led to the claim page where you need to input your Ethereum address in order to claim the NFT to your xDai wallet. Kindly note that we strongly recommend you to use Metamask instead of other wallets to avoid any inconvenience.

Claiming your NFT will send it to your xDAI wallet, not your mainnet Ethereum wallet address. Because xDAI is an Ethereum sidechain, there is no fee incurred when transferring the NFT to your xDAI wallet. 

3. Once you have claimed your NFT, you will see this message on your screen. Simply click on ‘Check my badges’ to see your inventory of collected NFTs.

4. As you can see, the Halloween NFT is now listed under the wallet address. Clicking on it will bring you to a dedicated page where you can see your ownership of it as well as the option to migrate it. 

 

Part 2: Migrating to Ethereum Mainnet After A Claim in Part 1.

5. In order to migrate the NFT to the mainnet, you will first need to open up your inventory again. For quick access to see your NFTs, head over to app.poap.xyz/scan/YourWalletAddress.
    

6. Select the NFT that you want to migrate. In this case, we will continue with the ‘CoinGecko Halloween 2020 - Joker Gecko’ as our example. 

7. You will be led to ‘CoinGecko Halloween 2020 - Joker Gecko’ individual page. To migrate to the mainnet, hit the ‘Migrate POAP’ button. 

8. Next, you will need to connect your wallet. We strongly recommend that you use MetaMask for this step.
   Once you have connected your wallet, select your preferred gas fee (check the gas price at www.blocknative.com) and confirm the transaction.

 

9. When the transaction is completed, you will receive a confirmation on the POAP website as shown above.
    

Method 2: Claim and Migrate at once

1. The first step in claiming and migrating your NFT is to make sure that the ‘Free Minting in xDAI’ box is unchecked.
   
   Then input your Ethereum wallet address you wish to migrate to the mainnet. Kindly note that we strongly recommend to use Metamask than any other wallet to avoid any inconvenience. 

2. You will then be prompted to connect your MetaMask wallet to complete the transaction. Select your preferred gas price (check the gas price here www.blocknative.com) and hit confirm to send the NFT to the Ethereum mainnet. 

 

3. Congratulations! The NFT has been successfully migrated to the Ethereum mainnet! You will still be able to view your NFTs on https://app.poap.xyz/scan/YourWalletAddress.
