Illuvium is an upcoming Ethereum-backed auto battler game where players can wander into dangerous places to hunt and capture NFT beasts, the Illuvials, to battle in the arenas or sell them in the marketplace for profits. The game combines traditional RPG collection games, fight mechanics of the Auto Battler genre, and vast landscapes seen in open-world games. Illuvium provides players with an immersive gameplay experience, and it is easy to play for players of any age.
Illuvium game is integrated with the hyper-scalable Immutable-X L2 solution, which provides zero gas fees transactions to enhance players' experience. What's more, the game is being developed by a dream team of over 40 global talents led by co-founders Kieran Warwick and Aaron Warwick.
Although Illuvium is still in its early stage of development, it has expanded rapidly since its debut in 2020. According to the team, the game is designed to become the first AAA quality P2E NFT game to revolutionize the gaming industry. Read on to learn more about the game's basic mechanics and how to start staking Illuvium native tokens, ILV.
Illuvium Gameplay
Players can explore the world of Illuvium and battle monsters known as Illuvials. After defeating them in combat, the player can capture them with Shards. Players progressively build up a squad that becomes stronger over time, allowing them to go to more dangerous parts of the world and combat tough opponents.
One of the numerous ways Illuvium differs from other RPGs is that it is an auto-battler game. Unlike Axie Infinity, players may tactically pick and deploy their Illuvials to battle their opponent in each combat instance.
1. Game Modes
Adventure Mode
Travel across the world to fight and collect Illuvials in Adventure Mode. Venture into the mysterious land and search for the strongest Illuvials. Act fast as Illuvials capture rate will decrease as more Iluvials have been captured thus far, making any creature rarer with time. Grow your team, gain power, and conquer the game.
Battle Arena
Once the battle arenas go online, players would be able to compete to discover who has the most excellent Illuvials team with the Arena Mode. There are two arenas available, each with its own set of rules:

Ranked Arena: Players will be on equal footing. Experience levels will be standardized, and each Illuvial will be assigned a point cost, making battle skill-based.

Leviathan Arena: Players will have no restraints on experience levels and point cost associated with Illuvials. Spectators will also be allowed to place bets on the outcomes of these games.
2. Combat
Each Illuvial will seek out and attack a foe while accumulating energy throughout the course when the battle begins. The Illuvial will raise its energy level when it deals damage to the opponents. When its energy level reaches a certain threshold, it will unleash a powerful Ultimate Ability that can alter the game's outcome. Whoever beats all the opponent’s Illuvials will win the match.
3. Capture
After successful combat in the adventure mode, a player can capture the defeated Illuvial with a Shard, roughly the same idea as a Poké Ball from the Pokémon game. The probability of successful capture is determined by the Shard's capture power and the strength of the Illuvial being captured. Illuvials have a chance of escaping if your Shards are too weak. Hence, it is best to bring your strongest Shards when travelling in the high-level zones.
4. Experience and Leveling
Illuvials gain experience and levels as they progress through the stages. If your Illuvial is left in a Shard without any combat, it will not advance stronger. The only exception is that defeated Illuvials will return to their Shard for recovery. There is a countdown for your Illuvial to recover fully. But if you don't want to wait, you could pay a small fee for rapid restoration.
5. Synergies
Based on similar affinities or classes, different types of illuvials develop symbiotic relationships known as Synergies. Illuvials will become stronger when fighting as a team of synergizing pairs based on the Hybrid Synergy System. Different synergies create different advantages for your team, allowing you to outperform your opponent and increase your chances of victory.
6. Affinity
There are five primary affinities: water, earth, fire, nature, and air. The damage dealt or taken by each Illuvial is determined by their and the opponent's affinity. For instance, a Fire Illuvial does more damage to a Nature Illuvial but takes more damage from a Water Illuvial. It is critical to consider your opponent's composition before selecting your Illuvials.
7. Class
The game has five fundamental classes: Fighter, Guardian, Rogue, Psion, and Empath. Each class has its synergy. For example, a team of Guardians will absorb a lot of damage, making them a natural choice to be the ‘tanks’ of the team.
8. Fusion
Illuvials do not evolve like Pokemon. Instead, they fuse to grow stronger. Two conditions must be satisfied to fuse:

The player must have three of the same Illuvial.

All the three Illuvials must have reached their maximum level.
9. IlluviDEX (The Illuvium Exchange)
The Illuvium Exchange is a virtual marketplace operated by the Illuvium DAO where users may buy and sell all in-game NFTs, including Illuvials and equipment.
10. Mining and Harvesting
After gathering minerals from the planet's surface, use your Polymorphic Subordinate Drone to forge them into weapons and sets of armour by infusing energy into the materials. Some mining materials are far more scarce and provide your equipment with more powerful bonuses. You may choose to use the mining material to excel in combat or sell them on the IlluviDEX for profits.
Staking ILV
The ILV token is an ERC-20 token issued to liquidity providers and stakers of the tokens. Simply obtain some ILV tokens from a decentralized exchange like SushiSwap, then head over to the Illuvium staking platform and follow the instructions below to start staking ILV and earn in-game currency.
How will I be rewarded for staking ILV?
Stakers will get rewarded in two forms:

Revenue distribution: 100% of ETH spent in-game will go to a vault that will buy ILV off SushiSwap and redistribute it to stakers.

Yield farming: Yield farming rewards can be claimed in the form of ILV or sILV. The difference is that ILV rewards are subject to a 12 month lockup period, while sILV can be claimed and used immediately for gameplay. A total of 3 million ILV and sILV combined will be distributed over three years.
How to Stake ILV?
Step 1
Head over to Illuvium Staking Platform and connect your wallet.
Step 2
Once connected, go to Stake > Core Pools, click approve, and complete the prompts on your wallet.
Step 3
Select the pool in which you want to participate and click the "Stake."
Step 4
You may choose between flexible and locked. There are no multiplier rewards for flexible mode while being locked raises your pool weighing by up to 2x. Simply enter the amount you want to stake and click the "STAKE." Then, review and confirm the transaction sent to your wallet.
Step 5
You may get your rewards in 2 ways, ILV and sILV. Rewards claimed in ILV are locked for a year, whereas sILV may be claimed and spent immediately in-game.
Step 6
View your deposits and rewards on the Vesting tab. You may withdraw rewards from the protocol once they have vested.
Illuvium's full release was initially scheduled for Q4 2021. However, co-founder Kieran Warwick announced on August 30 that the release date had been pushed back further into 2022. The mobile app is expected to release following the PC version, with the team mentioning plans for console versions.
