Pudgy Penguin holders have received approximately $137K in airdrops (derived from tokens’ all-time high prices) from holding a single NFT.  Over 2024, Pudgy Penguins has been at the forefront of innovation, distributing several token airdrops tied to partnerships with blockchain ecosystems such as zkSync, Omni Network, and Dymension. These airdrops have collectively provided significant returns to holders, showcasing the potential for NFTs to serve as conduits for financial growth.

What Are The Largest Airdrops Received by Pudgy Penguins?

Pengu Airdrop

In December 2024, Pudgy Penguins launched their native token, PENGU, marking a major milestone in their ecosystem’s evolution. Initially launched at $0.05 per token, PENGU reached an all-time high of $0.07. This translated into a value of $116,365 worth of PENGU per Pudgy Penguins NFT at peak valuation with 1.7 million PENGU allocated to each Pudgy Penguin NFT. The PENGU airdrop accounted for 86.3% of the total value of airdrops received by the Pudgy Penguins NFT.

The airdrop extended beyond Pudgy Penguins NFT holders to include communities, both within the Pudgy Penguin ecosystem, such as Lil Pudgys and Pudgy Rods, as well as other NFT communities such as Doodles, Cool Cats, Deadfellaz, and Moonbirds, among others. Some allocation was also allotted to users who had participated in either the ETH or SOL ecosystems, defined as “OGs”, which rewarded early users of these blockchains. This wide distribution showcased a strategic effort to bridge NFT communities and early cryptocurrency users to the Pudgy ecosystem.

Dymension Airdrop

Holders of Pudgy Penguins were rewarded with DYM tokens during the Dymension airdrop in early 2024, coinciding with Dymension's broader initiative to integrate NFT communities into the Cosmos ecosystem. As part of the Cosmos ecosystem, Dymension focuses on enabling modular rollapp chains, offering flexibility for blockchain developers. At the time of distribution, the tokens were valued at $4.89 each. Each Pudgy Penguin NFT was eligible for 1,313 DYM per NFT held, giving a total worth of $11,160 at the token’s all-time high of $8.50.

Omni Network Airdrop

Omni Network airdropped OMNI tokens to Pudgy Penguins holders as part of their effort to build awareness and adoption of cross-chain technologies. Omni Network is designed to facilitate interoperability between various blockchain ecosystems, aiming to create a seamless user experience. Although the token price saw a significant decrease over the year, the initial airdrop served as a valuable introduction to Omni’s ecosystem. At the time of the airdrop, OMNI tokens were valued at $27.06 each. With OMNI’s all-time high price being $53.81 and 37 OMNI tokens allocated to each Pudgy Penguin NFT, holding one Pudgy Penguin gave a total of $1,984 worth of OMNI at its peak.

zkSync Airdrop

As a key player in Ethereum Layer 2 solutions, zkSync rewarded Pudgy Penguins holders with ZK tokens in the month of June 2024. zkSync's rollup technology emphasizes scalability and reduced transaction costs, making it a critical player in Ethereum’s future. ZK tokens reached an all-time high of $0.32 per token. At this price and 8,721 ZK tokens allocated to each Pudgy Penguins NFT, holders of one Pudgy Penguin received $2,791 worth of ZK tokens during the airdrop, offering a healthy return for each holder.

LayerZero Airdrop

LayerZero’s airdrop on July 2024 was another fitting airdrop for Pudgy Penguin holders. As a protocol enabling omnichain interoperability, LayerZero aligns with Pudgy Penguins’ ethos of bridging ecosystems and enhancing accessibility within the NFT community.  By December 2024, the token value rose to $5.09, almost doubling the benefit for Pudgy Penguin holders, who received a total of 100 ZRO tokens per Pudgy Penguin NFT held. Its all-time high price of $7.47 boosted the value per NFT to $747 worth of ZRO tokens.
