How Much Can You Earn From Move-to-Earn (M2E) Games in 2023?
Genopets is currently the highest-earning Move to Earn (M2E) game, generating $0.26 per day after deductions. Users are able to earn 30 Genopets Ki (KI) a day with the base level Habitat, but would require 10 KI to repair it daily. With a net income of 20 KI a day, players can make $0.26 every day.
Walken is the second highest-earning M2E game, with users earning up to $0.10 per day or 3.6 Walken (WLKN) tokens with a basic CAThlete. This is assuming that users play the maximum number of games daily (three games every two hours) and wins them all.
STEPN is now able to earn users about $0.06 a day after repair costs are deducted. Typical base-level shoes can earn about 8 Green Satoshi Token’s (GST) a day, and an average of 3 GST are needed for maintenance after usage.
Sweatcoin generates the least earnings, with users currently making about 1.3 SWEAT a day, equating to $0.008. The first 5,000 steps in a day are able to earn users SWEAT, and any steps above that go towards earning Sweatcoin, which can be redeemed for in-app rewards. The difficulty for earning SWEAT is also continuously increasing, with the current rate being 1 SWEAT for every 3,800 steps or so.
Move-to-Earn Earnings in 2022
STEPN was the highest-earning Move to Earn game in 2022. At its all-time high, GST was $8.51, meaning STEPN players could earn $42.55 daily.
As for Genopets, players were able to make $12.13, before deducting habitat repair fees. This would’ve resulted in $8.08 of earnings, with a KI price of $0.40.
Meanwhile, Walken users would have earned $0.35 per day with a level 1 CAThlete. At its peak, the WLKN token traded at $0.10.
When first launched, Sweatcoin users were able to generate $0.46 in earnings, with 1 SWEAT being earned for every 1,000 steps, up to 5,000 steps. Therefore, players were able to earn up to 5 SWEAT a day. The price of SWEAT at launch was $0.09.
How Much Have Move-to-Earn Earnings Dropped?
STEPN daily earnings have dropped -99.9% since its all-time high. This results from GST prices falling from $8.51 to $0.015.
Genopet’s KI is now priced at $0.013, while it was at $0.40 at its peak, resulting in a -96.8% decrease in earnings.
Sweatcoin earnings have plummeted -98.3%, due to an increase in difficulty, and a drop in SWEAT price.
Walken was the only game with less than a 90% drop in earnings, at -71.4%. The WLKN token dropped from $0.096 to $0.028 over the past year.

The study examined the daily earnings from four Move to Earn games, STEPN, Genopets, Walken, and Sweatcoin, from January 1, 2022, to May 29, 2023, with data obtained from CoinGecko.
The study excludes the initial startup cost of purchasing a STEPN shoe, or a Genopet Habitat.
