What Is Heroes of Mavia?

Heroes of Mavia is a Web3 mobile online multiplayer base-builder strategy game, utilizing a diverse currency system that comprises of MAVIA, Ruby, and Sapphire tokens. MAVIA allows holders to create proposals and vote on decisions that impacts the development of the Mavia ecosystem, while Ruby is used to craft and trade Legendary NFT items.

The Mavia Ecosystem Currencies

The Heroes of Mavia is powered by three currencies: MAVIA, Ruby and Sapphire. 

MAVIA Token

MAVIA Token holders get to create proposals and/or vote on decisions that will direct the affect development of the Mavia ecosystem. Proposals can include proposals to change rules, fees and gameplay itself.

The MAVIA Token was launched on 6 February 2024, reaching a high of $10.59 on February 18.

While MAVIA is largely used for governance, players will also be able to wager and earn MAVIA by battling other players in the Mavia Arena.

Ruby

Ruby is earned by attacking other players’ bases, and can also be earned by defending your Base from enemy attacks. In addition, players can also earn Ruby by clearing random obstacles in their base, or by completing daily challenges.

Ruby is used to craft and trade Legendary items, which are on-chain NFTs. Ruby can also be wagered and earned through wagered matches and tournaments, where players compete against each other to earn Ruby. 

Sapphire 

Sapphire is a premium in-game token, which is an in-app purchase that can be bought through the Armory with fiat currency.

Sapphire has many uses such as speeding up construction time, skipping recruitment training times, buying resources, boosting resources and buying more engineers. Upon launch of the marketplace, Ruby marketplace trades will require players to pay a small fee in Sapphire before trades can be executed.

Heroes of Mavia Gameplay

You are a commander of a Base on an island called “Mavia”. New players to Heroes of Mavia begin the game with an onboarding tutorial, which teaches you how to navigate and build your base. Once completed, you can then explore other aspects of the game. To build up your base, you will need to mine for Gold and Oil.

Additionally, apart from building up your base, you can attack other players’ bases to pillage resources by destroying enemies’ resources, and complete missions to climb the leaderboard. You will likely enjoy this game if you like games like Clash of Clans and Age of Empires. 

You will enjoy this game if:

• You enjoy base building strategy games that includes constructing buildings to defend your own base and to recruit units to attack other bases

• You enjoy competing for a slot on the leaderboards.

Navigation Screen

Headquarters and Engineer Hut

The Headquarters is the main point of operation – levelling up your headquarters will give you access to build new buildings and access new upgrades. 

You will need to build the engineers to have engineers build and upgrade the buildings. 

Note: Building is limited to the number of engineers available; however you can speed up building by spending Sapphire.

Upgrading buildings will increase the building’s damage per second, hitpoints, unlock more in-game features etc.

Mining Resources

Players will need to mine and store resources via a Gold Collector and Oil Rig to build up their base.

 

You can increase capacity, production and hitpoints by upgrading and levelling up the buildings. 

A faster alternative to mining is to attack other players’ bases to destroy and steal their resources. 

Armory – Building the Base’s Defences 

You will need to build up your base defences to protect your base.

When you are under attack, you will be notified of the attack and you cannot access your base until the attack is completed.

Such attacks from other players can get pretty costly, as you can lose a lot of resources. 

Hence building a strong defence at your base will minimize the losses. 

Build Your Attack Forces

As part of the game you can attack other players’ bases to pillage resources and climb the leaderboard, as well as complete missions. To do so you will need to recruit and train your army: 

You can train different units in the Infantry Factory, the Vehicle Factory and the Aircraft Factory. Use the Recruit button to train your units. 

At each Base level you will be limited to a certain number of slots to recruit.  Additionally it takes time to train units; however you can use Sapphire to skip it. 

The Laboratory can be used to research how to level up your units.

Battle

By choosing Battle, you get to visit, destroy and pillage other players’ lands. Ranked Battles will cost Gold to find a match.

Each Battle has a set time of 150 seconds to destroy, and plunder as many resources as possible. Note you cannot only deploy your units in the red zone.

You will be limited to the number of units recruited and available at your Rally Point. However, you can only use the units once – once deployed at the battle you cannot reuse them in the next battle and you have to recruit new units to fill the vacancy. 

The Battle ends when (1) you have destroyed the enemies’ entire base, (2) the timer runs out, (3) you choose the “End Battle” button.

You can retain the loot you have stolen irrespective of whether you are successful in destroying the enemies’ entire base. However, you earn trophies if you win, and if you lose you lose trophies. 

Missions

You can also earn Gold and Oil by completing missions. Under the Battle button, players can choose to go on Missions to earn Gold, Oil and Sapphire. Completing a Mission will open the gates to the next mission. Looted Gold and Oil will not be replenished if you return to the completed missions, but you can return to the old missions if you have not looted all the Gold and Oil. Completing missions will not increase Battle and Leaderboard ranking.

Alliance

You can create or join an Alliance, which allows (1) players to speed up base development, (2) players within an Alliance can donate units to others for Battles, and (3) gain Shields from joining an Alliance.

You can join an existing Alliance.

You can also create a new Alliance for 50,000 Gold. 

Leaderboards – Players and Alliances

You can compete to climb the Leaderboards available as an individual player or as part of your chosen Alliance. You can also filter your standing through global rankings or local country rankings.

In the future there will be Mavia League Tournaments with prizes.

House of Mavia Roadmap

After the Global Rollout in Q1 2024, the House of Mavia will be focusing on launching new features and user base growth, via social media campaigns with Creator Code Program Release. Thereafter, House of Mavia plans to launch their Mavia Arena. 

Is This the Right Game for Me?

We've summarized our experiences with Heroes of Mavia based on the points below. 

Pros

• Easy to sign up and start playing via the Google Play and Android store app. The House of Mavia Twitter account has a video showing how to link the account to your wallet. 

• Good beginners tutorial – pretty easy to follow thereafter.

• Very nice graphics and visuals.

• Good strategy building – on best placement of buildings in the base.

• There is a free-to-play version available.

• More skillful players will be able to test their skills and earn Mavia Tokens in the Mavia Arena. 

Cons

• Have to wait for the attack to finish before you can play. 

• Battles are one-sided – cannot actively watch and protect your Base. 

• My mobile phone tends to heat up and battery depletes fast. 

• Mining Gold and Oil resources can be time consuming, especially when other players attack and loot your resources. However, players have the option to buy Sapphire for fiat and/or crypto currency – which is not cheap.
