Overview of Pendle x Tori Finance

Tori Finance brings institutional trading-desk returns on-chain, and Pendle lets you trade that yield as fixed or floating.

  • Tori runs delta-neutral strategies: money-market carry, futures arbitrage, and calendar spreads, the same playbook used by desks managing pension and sovereign capital, and channels the returns into an on-chain synthetic dollar, trUSD.
  • Staking trUSD mints strUSD: a token that automatically compounds that strategy yield.
  • Both trUSD and strUSD are now live on Pendle: where they're split into PT (fixed yield) and YT (floating yield exposure), maturing 26 November 2026.
Pendle x Tori

This article is brought to you by Pendle.

If you hold stablecoins today, most of your yield options fall into a couple of approaches: park them somewhere safe and earn close to nothing, or chase a higher APY that often comes from recycled crypto-native leverage and incentives rather than a genuinely new source of returns. Tori Finance is trying to add a different option to the mix: yield sourced from the kind of fixed-income and arbitrage strategies that have quietly funded pension funds and institutional desks for decades, verified on-chain instead of trusted on a statement. Pendle then lets you decide exactly how you want exposure to that yield: locked in and fixed, or floating and leveraged.

Here's how the two fit together, and what it actually means for you as a user.

What Is Tori Finance?

Tori Finance brings institutional-grade, market-neutral trading strategies on-chain. Instead of one yield source, its strategy book runs three approaches long used by professional trading desks:

  • Money-market carry: borrowing where short-term rates are low, lending where they are higher, and hedging the currency exposure fully back to USD. The difference between the two rates, after the hedge, is the yield.

  • Futures arbitrage: profiting from pricing gaps between spot and futures markets

  • Calendar spreads: trading the price difference between contracts of different maturities

These are delta-neutral strategies, meaning the book isn't betting on crypto going up or down. It's hedged back to USD and harvesting structural spreads that exist regardless of market direction. And none of it depends on crypto: the returns are driven by global money market monetary policy rather than crypto sentiment, which is what makes them structurally uncorrelated with crypto cycles. That's the yield source backing trUSD, Tori's synthetic dollar.

trUSD is not a fiat-backed stablecoin like USDC or USDT. It’s a synthetic dollar backed by the trading positions above, and Tori's documentation states that its market price is not guaranteed to equal $1.00. Staking trUSD mints strUSD, a yield-bearing token that automatically compounds the strategy's returns as they come in.

Tori went live on Ethereum in July 2026 and has already grown past $63M in TVL. The seed round was led by Delphi Ventures, with RockawayX, which manages over $2B in digital assets, serving as the vault's risk curator and anchor LP, independently monitoring off-chain positions and capital flows without relying on data Tori itself provides. On top of that, because the strategies run off-chain, Tori built real-time verification in from day one: Accountable provides live proof of solvency covering reserves, collateral ratio, strategy allocation, and delta neutrality, all viewable on-chain by anyone. Smart contracts are audited by Sherlock and Nethermind, with 24/7 monitoring from Hypernative and a $1M bug bounty on top.

As Tori founder Samed Duzcay puts it: "The yield is generated from real economic activity, not from recycling crypto-native capital."

What Is Pendle?

Pendle is the world's largest yield trading platform in crypto. To understand what that means, it helps to think about what happens when you hold any yield-bearing asset in this case would be strUSD.

Yield-bearing assets bundle together your original principal, and a stream of income generated on top of it. Normally these can’t be separated, but Pendle lets you unbundle them into two tradable tokens:

PT (Principal Token): This is your original deposit. Holding PT locks in a fixed rate of return; you buy it at a discount and receive full face value at maturity, so you know exactly what you're earning the moment you buy, regardless of what happens to the underlying yield afterward.

YT (Yield Token): This represents the yield stream alone. Holding YT gives you leveraged exposure to whatever the underlying strategy earns over time; if it performs well, you benefit more than a PT holder would; if it doesn't, you feel that too.

Pendle already applies this mechanism across dozens of on-chain yield sources, including trUSD and strUSD through PendleV2, its core spot yield trading product. Pendle also runs Boros, a separate product for leveraged margin trading of any rate, from on-chain funding rates to off-chain institutional yield, extending Pendle's reach into markets beyond spot yield.

How trUSD and strUSD Fit Into Pendle

trUSD and strUSD on Pendle

Both trUSD and strUSD are now live on Pendle, split into their own PT and YT markets:

PT-trUSD / PT-strUSD is for users who want certainty. Buying it locks in a fixed rate through maturity on 26 November 2026; whatever rate you lock in is what you get, independent of how the strategy book performs between now and then. This is the option for anyone who wants predictable, institutional-style returns without needing to track the market. As of time of writing, PT-strUSD is pricing a fixed rate of 11.56%, and PT-trUSD around 9.51%. However, like any market, these rates move with supply and demand on Pendle, so check the app for the current number before committing.

YT-trUSD / YT-strUSD is for users who want upside. If you think Tori's carry, arbitrage, and spread strategies are about to perform particularly well, YT gives you leveraged exposure to that floating yield rather than a locked-in rate, currently around 33x. That leverage cuts both ways: it amplifies gains if the underlying strategy outperforms, and amplifies losses if it doesn't.

Because both pools sit on Ethereum with the same maturity date, the position has one clean expiry to plan around rather than several overlapping ones. And a fixed position doesn't mean idle capital: PT-trUSD can already be used as collateral on Morpho money markets, so locking in a rate doesn't stop that capital from doing more work elsewhere.

Combined, as of time of writing, the two markets hold roughly $19M in total liquidity and around $270K in daily trading volume, with the strUSD market carrying the bulk of it. As it’s a live, tradeable market rather than a locked position, pricing and depth will likely shift over time.

To illustrate the demand: the pre-deposit vault opened 23 June with a $50M cap and took in $44M in its first 24 hours. strUSD itself went live 27 July with day-one integrations across Pendle, Morpho, Curve, and Royco, ready to be plugged straight into tools you're probably already using.

The Bigger Picture

Tori's backing includes partnerships with regulated desks, including one managing $10–20B for pension and trust funds, which is the kind of counterparty relationship rarely paired with on-chain infrastructure. Looking ahead, Tori also has multi-chain expansion planned via Chainlink's CCIP (a burn-and-mint cross-chain token standard), which would extend trUSD and strUSD access beyond Ethereum.

What Tori and Pendle have built together gives everyday on-chain users a way to access yield that used to sit exclusively behind institutional trading desks. It's verifiable in real time rather than taken on faith, and tradeable as either a locked-in fixed rate or leveraged floating exposure depending on what you're optimizing for. As with any yield strategy, none of this is risk-free or guaranteed. Returns depend on how the underlying arbitrage, carry, and spread strategies actually perform, which is exactly why the transparency tooling (Accountable's proof-of-solvency dashboard, RockawayX's independent monitoring, and the Sherlock/Nethermind audits) matters: it lets you evaluate that risk yourself.

If you want to explore trUSD or strUSD, you can find both pools directly on the Pendle app and decide which side of the yield trade fits what you're looking for.
