What Is Mint Blockchain?
Mint Blockchain is a Layer 2 network built on the Ethereum blockchain that aims to enhance the Non-Fungible Token (NFT) ecosystem and user experience. It utilizes the OP Stack solution, the framework developed by the Optimism Collective, and is specifically designed to provide a robust infrastructure for NFT development and trading. Being compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) allows developers to extend their projects from the Ethereum ecosystem to Mint Blockchain while benefiting from lower gas fees for on-chain interactions.
The blockchain is focusing on creating a more efficient environment for NFT transactions such as the creation, circulation, and trading of NFTs. According to the roadmap, Mint Blockchain will be launching the NFT Improvement Proposal (NIP) asset protocol standard library in 2024 Q3. This initiative is meant to foster innovation by allowing developers to propose new NFT standards and protocols. Applications can range from real-world assets to blockchain games to social accounts and even sports events.
Behind the launch of Mint Blockchain is NFTScan Labs and MintCore. NFTScan Labs is the developer team behind NFTScan, a professional NFT explorer and open data platform. They are also the core initiating team for Mint Blockchain and will focus on developing infrastructure such as block explorers, NFT browsers, developer documentation system, and developer SDK tools. Meanwhile, MintCore is organized by Mint Foundation and acts as the core development team to be responsible for the underlying technology selection and network development.
Mint Blockchain successfully raised $5 million in a seed funding round that was finalized on May 30, 2024. It included participation from investors such as Jsquare, SNZ Capital, Antalpha Ventures, and Mask Network.
Following a successful release of the Dev Mainnet on May 15, 2024, Mint Blockchain has officially launched the Mint Public Mainnet on July 1, 2024. The mainnet infrastructure is fully operational with more than 100 ecosystem partners and over 400,000 active on-chain addresses. Some of the applications within the Mint ecosystem include block explorers, crypto wallets, cross-chain bridges, DeFi and NFT protocols, and more.
As a method of expressing gratitude to Mint users, the Mint team is allocating 12% of the total token supply of the future MINT token. These tokens will be distributed during an undisclosed airdrop season to those who participate in Mint voyages. At the time of writing, eligible users are MintID Stakers, activated GreenID holders, and Mint Expedition users. Users can now participate in the Mint Expedition that went live on July 15, 2024.
A series of distinct seasons will open progressively for users to learn more about Mint Blockchain and its ecosystem. Each season also has three zones, the MP zone for completing quests to earn MP points, the Mint Expedition NFTs zone where finishing quests will earn users exclusive Mint Expedition NFTs, and the referral zone for users to refer others and earn 10% of the airdrop that their invitees receive.
Do note that at the time of writing, while a token airdrop has been officially confirmed by the Mint team, the airdrop campaign period and specific criteria have not been announced. Therefore, following the steps below to participate in the Mint Expedition does not guarantee a future token airdrop allocation.
Step 1: Connect to Mint
Visit https://www.mintchain.io/airdrop and connect your wallet. In this guide, we are using a MetaMask wallet but you can choose from the various options. You will then be prompted to add the Mint network to your wallet.
At this step, you can enter a referral code if you have one but it is not necessary to proceed. If you are looking for a referral code, we recommend that you join the official Mint Discord channel, the official Mint Telegram, or browse through the official Mint Twitter / X page to find codes being shared by others.
You can access these channels here.

Step 2: Enter the Explorer’s Base
Scroll down to see the various quests included in the Mint Expedition - Season One: Explorer’s Base.
It is likely that completing each quest will boost your token airdrop allocation. However, based on the available information at the time of writing, it does not seem to be necessary to participate in every quest to be eligible. Do take into consideration the amount of capital required for each task and what you are comfortable to spend.
Quest 1: Bridge to Mint
Go to the Bridge to Mint quest page. You are required to bridge a minimum 0.01 ETH in a single transaction to earn 2,000 MPs, but you will need to bridge slightly more to cover the cost of gas fees.
Click bridge now.

Select from the list of networks you want to bridge your ETH from such as Ethereum, Optimism, and Arbitrum. In this guide, we are bridging 0.016 ETH from Arbitrum to Mint Blockchain.
Send the ETH and confirm the transaction in your wallet.

Quest 2: Mint Commemorative NFT
Go to the quest page and select Mint Mainnet Commemorative NFT.
Mint 1 NFT and confirm the transaction in your wallet.

Quest 3: Create a NFT Collection
Go to the quest page where you can see recommended tools like Omnihub, NFTs2ME, and more. You can also choose to deploy your own contract.
In this guide, we are using Omnihub to create our collection. Click on Omnihub to be redirected to the page.

Connect your wallet in the top right corner, making sure it is the same one connected to Mint.

Fill in the necessary details including collection name and description. The token symbol is automatically generated based on the collection name and the minting fee and supply have a default amount preloaded by Omnihub.
You also need to upload an image file. Make sure your chain is the Mint blockchain before proceeding to Deploy.
Once the contract has been deployed, Mint the first NFT in the collection.

Quest 4: Activate GreenID
On the GreendID NFT quest page, Go to Activate yours.

On the Mint Forest page, continue with the wallet login.

There are four steps you need to complete for eligibility verification. To Verify Twitter you will need to authorize the Mint app to have access to your account.

The last step requires an invitation code. If you do not have any connections already on Mint, you can join the official Mint Discord channel, the official Mint Telegram, or browse through the official Mint Twitter / X page to find codes being shared by others.
You can access these channels here.
Mint Discord: https://discord.gg/mint-blockchain
Mint Telegram: https://t.me/MintBlockchain
Mint Twitter (X): https://x.com/Mint_Blockchain
Do note that you will need the invitation code specifically for Mint Forest. This is different from the Airdrop referral code.

Once you have finished the verification process, you now have a tree. Collect your ME points which are available every 24 hours.

You can then inject ME to your tree to upgrade it.

New users receive an inactive version of the GreenID. To activate it, you need to check-in and collect your ME for seven consecutive days.
After this, a GreenID NFT Box will appear next to your tree. Click on the box to activate your GreenID.

Quest 5: Own Your .mint DID Domain
On the quest page, select Mint Your .mint Domain.

Connect your wallet in the top right corner and proceed to search for an available domain.

Once you have found an available domain you want, click on it and proceed to Register it then confirm the transaction in your wallet.

Quest 6: Complete Tasks
In this quest, you will be directed to the Explorer’s Base Intract page to complete tasks and earn NFT certificates. All these NFT certificates are eligible for MINT token airdrops.

On the Intract page, connect your wallet and proceed with the Mint Expedition Season 1 quests.
There are a total of four quests at the time of writing, each with their own set of tasks to complete. Each task will also earn you XP.

Quest 7: Own your VIP3 Card NFT
On this quest page, proceed to Mint Your VIP3 Card on Mint.

Connect your wallet in the top right corner and scroll down to mint the NFT.

Ensure you have selected the Mint chain. You can choose to mint it for 0.08 ETH or complete tasks to mint it for free.

Conclusion
Mint Blockchain is a Layer 2 network with a focus on enhancing the NFT ecosystem by providing a robust infrastructure for NFT development and trading. Users can now participate in the Mint Expedition and complete tasks to be eligible for a future MINT token airdrop.
