Market Cap / FDV
The proportion of current market capitalization compares to market capitalization when meeting max supply.
The closer the Mkt Cap/FDV to 1, the closer the current market capitalization to its fully diluted valuation and vice versa. Learn more about Mkt Cap/FDV here. |

Fully Diluted Valuation
Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) = Current Price x Total Supply
Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) is the theoretical market capitalization of a coin if the entirety of its supply is in circulation, based on its current market price. The FDV value is theoretical as increasing the circulating supply of a coin may impact its market price. Also depending on the tokenomics, emission schedule or lock-up period of a coin's supply, it may take a significant time before its entire supply is released into circulation. How do you feel about BOLD today?
About BOLD (BOLD)
BOLD is a decentralized, fully redeemable stablecoin pegged to the US Dollar and issued by the Liquity Protocol.
- Users can mint BOLD by depositing Ethereum (ETH) or liquid staking tokens like wstETH and rETH as collateral.
- The protocol features user-set interest rates, allowing borrowers to adjust their own costs based on market conditions.
- BOLD maintains its peg through a combination of over-collateralization, a Stability Pool, and an adaptive redemption mechanism.
What Is BOLD
BOLD is the primary stablecoin of the Liquity V2 ecosystem, designed to provide capital-efficient liquidity against decentralized assets. It serves as the unit of account for loans within the protocol, allowing users to unlock value from their Ethereum holdings without selling them. The token is "put to work" through the Stability Pool, where holders can deposit BOLD to facilitate protocol liquidations in exchange for collateral rewards and protocol revenues.
As the ecosystem grows, BOLD scales by integrating with various decentralized finance platforms and through a "Forks Ecosystem" that deplops the Liquity V2 codebase across different networks. This expansion increases the utility and demand for the stablecoin while maintaining its core principles of immutability and decentralization. BOLD inherits the resilience of Liquity USD (LUSD) while introducing enhanced peg dynamics and sustainable yield models.
What Makes BOLD Unique
- User-Set Interest Rates: Unlike most lending protocols that use algorithmic interest rate models, BOLD allows borrowers to set and adjust their own interest rates to manage redemption risk.
- Immutable Architecture: The core components of the BOLD issuing system are immutable, meaning they cannot be changed or upgraded by any governing body.
- Decentralized Collateral: BOLD is backed exclusively by on-chain assets like ETH and staked ETH, minimizing exposure to centralized financial risks.
- Adaptive Redemption Mechanism: A novel system that facilitates market stability between borrowers and stability seekers without requiring active governance.
What Can You Use BOLD for?
BOLD is pegged to the US Dollar.
- Value retention: BOLD allows users to hold a digital, on-chain representation of the US Dollar, providing a way to hedge against the volatility of the broader cryptocurrency market.
- Yield generation: Holders can earn yield by depositing BOLD into the protocol's Stability Pool or by holding variant tokens like sBOLD and ysyBOLD. These yields are supported by protocol revenues, which are diverted to incentivize liquidity and stability.
- Cross-border settlement / value transfer: BOLD can be used for international remittances and global trade, enabling the frictionless transfer of US Dollar value across borders on the Ethereum network.
- Collateralization: The stablecoin can be utilized as collateral within other decentralized lending and borrowing protocols or as margin for trading derivatives in the DeFi ecosystem.
How Does BOLD Work?
BOLD operates through a collateralized debt position (CDP) model where users mint the stablecoin against their ETH or liquid staking token deposits. To ensure solvency, the protocol mandates a minimum collateral ratio, typically starting at 110%. If a borrower's collateral value falls below the required threshold, their position is liquidated using BOLD from the Stability Pool.
The system employs an adaptive redemption mechanism where BOLD can be redeemed for $1 worth of the underlying collateral at any time. This arbitrage opportunity helps keep the price close to its peg. Transaction costs and borrowing costs are managed through protocol service fees and user-defined interest rates rather than traditional network gas fees, although users still pay gas to the Ethereum network for transaction execution.
Team Info and Investors
BOLD is developed by Liquity AG, a Switzerland-based organization founded by Robert Lauko and Rick Pardoe. The project has secured backing from several prominent venture capital firms, including Polychain Capital, Pantera Capital, 1kx, Lemniscap, and Robot Ventures. The protocol emphasizes a governance-minimized approach, relying on its immutable codebase to ensure long-term stability and security.
