Market Cap
Market Cap = Current Price x Circulating Supply
Refers to the total market value of a cryptocurrency’s circulating supply. It is similar to the stock market’s measurement of multiplying price per share by shares readily available in the market (not held & locked by insiders, governments) Read More |

Market Cap / FDV
The proportion of current market capitalization compares to market capitalization when meeting max supply.
The closer the Mkt Cap/FDV to 1, the closer the current market capitalization to its fully diluted valuation and vice versa. Learn more about Mkt Cap/FDV here. |

Fully Diluted Valuation
Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) = Current Price x Total Supply
Fully Diluted Valuation (FDV) is the theoretical market capitalization of a coin if the entirety of its supply is in circulation, based on its current market price. The FDV value is theoretical as increasing the circulating supply of a coin may impact its market price. Also depending on the tokenomics, emission schedule or lock-up period of a coin's supply, it may take a significant time before its entire supply is released into circulation. About Citrea (CTR)
Citrea is the first zero-knowledge rollup built to settle directly on the Bitcoin network, enabling programmable smart contracts while maintaining Bitcoin-level security.
- Direct Bitcoin Settlement: Citrea utilizes zero-knowledge proofs that are verified on the Bitcoin blockchain through BitVM.
- EVM Compatibility: The platform features a Type 2 zkEVM, allowing developers to deploy Ethereum-compatible applications on Bitcoin.
- Coordination Asset Model: The CTR token serves as the network's governance and coordination asset, directing ecosystem evolution and treasury allocation.
What Is Citrea
Citrea functions as a dedicated application layer for Bitcoin, designed to address the network's inherent lack of native smart contract programmability. By sharding execution off-chain and verifying results on-chain, it allows for a diverse ecosystem of decentralized applications—referred to as ₿apps—to operate with the full security of the Bitcoin base layer.
The CTR token is the central coordination asset of this economy. Unlike traditional gas tokens, CTR is designed to align the interests of active users and developers. It is used to govern the Citrea network treasury, influence network emissions, and participate in the long-term evolution of the protocol. By putting control in the hands of active participants through staking, Citrea aims to foster a sustainable and decentralized Bitcoin-centric financial system.
What Makes Citrea Unique
Citrea distinguishes itself through its technical integration with Bitcoin's existing architecture. Key differentiators include:
- BitVM-Based Verification: It is the first project to implement on-chain verification of zero-knowledge proofs on Bitcoin via BitVM, ensuring that the rollup inherits the security of the underlying network.
- Clementine Bridge: A trust-minimized two-way peg system that allows for the secure transfer of BTC into Citrea as cBTC, the network's transactional asset.
- Type 2 zkEVM: Unlike many Bitcoin scaling solutions, Citrea maintains full compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), enabling developers to use familiar tools and languages to build on Bitcoin.
- Native Stablecoin Integration: The ecosystem supports ctUSD, a 1:1 fiat-backed stablecoin specifically designed for the Bitcoin economy and backed by short-term U.S. Treasury bills.
What Can You Use Citrea for?
As the coordination asset of the ecosystem, the CTR token provides several key utilities:
- Governance: Holders can stake CTR to gain voting power over the Citrea Governance Treasury and influence decisions regarding network upgrades and resource allocation.
- Ecosystem Coordination: CTR is used to manage network emissions, incentivizing developers and users who contribute to the growth of the ₿app ecosystem.
- Staking Rewards: Early participants can stake their tokens to receive a portion of the network's rewards, with specific allocations dedicated to long-term alignment.
- Access to ₿apps: The token facilitates participation in a variety of decentralized services, including DEXs, lending markets, and yield products built natively on the Citrea Layer 2.
How Does Citrea Work?
Citrea operates by batching thousands of transactions and processing them within a zero-knowledge virtual machine (zkVM). This process generates a succinct zero-knowledge validity proof—a mathematical proof that confirms the correctness of the execution without revealing the underlying data.
These proofs, along with the necessary state differences, are then posted directly to the Bitcoin blockchain. This ensures that any participant can trustlessly reconstruct the state of the Citrea network. The network achieves soft finality with block times of approximately 2 seconds through its sequencer, while hard finality is reached once the validity proof is verified by the Bitcoin network. Users pay protocol service fees in cBTC (bridged Bitcoin) to facilitate these transactions, while CTR manages the high-level coordination of the network infrastructure.
Team Info and Investors
Citrea is developed by Chainway and has secured significant backing from prominent venture capital firms and industry leaders. The project's funding rounds have included participation from Founders Fund, Galaxy, Delphi Digital, and Maven11. Notable individual investors include Naval Ravikant, Balaji Srinivasan, Erik Voorhees, and Eric Wall. This strong institutional and community backing supports the project's mission to transform Bitcoin into a foundational liquidity layer for global finance.
